EOTD Tuesday: Christmas Edition!

Happy Holidays and merry Christmas to all of you beautiful people!

I freaking love Christmas with a burning passion. Cookies, presents, giving, cookies, recieving, being together, cookies, hot chocolate, family, friends, candy canes, everything flavored peppermint, and of course, an occasional cookie. (;

But it's honestly the holiday that I look forward to the most every year. Besides my birthday. And anyway, I just wanted to show you an EOTD (Eye Of The Day) made up just for today, as I'm going to be spending time with the family (don't want to look like a drag queen). I usually like to play up my eyes rather than my lips because... well... my lips are rather large for my biology. And I don't like them.

Let's move on, shall we?

If you haven't been on my blog before, first off, warm welcomes, and here's what these tips of the day are. I do these every so often, and honestly, they're kind of random. Like me. :D

How do I decide my tips of the day? Well, I have a bunch of random tips and tricks that I've picked up over the course of my young life, and I like to share them with people who haven't stumbled across such knowledge yet. So, getting on to it, today's topic is on making the perfect smudged liner!

31 Day Nail Challenge Day 6: Violet

Okay today's challenge made me stumble a bit because I don't really have a violet nail color in my vast collection... Kind of awkward. SO I MADE IT WORK. Oh, and to devoted readers of my blog (I love you) I'm dreadfully sorry for not posting (what's new?) because school has hit me hard. Remember, I have school and somewhat of a life outside of blogging, but I really do try to get good posts out there for you guys. Onward!

If you want to see more pictures and colors I used, read on!

31 Day Nail Challenge Day 5: Blue

I'm not super fond of the color blue on my nails unless it's a rare, GORGEOUS color that only comes once in a lifetime, so I had a hard time thinking of designs for this challenge. But I did do a weird french tip/stripes/something design that looked okay. For the challenge, look no further than here.

2013's Color of the Year is... Emerald Green!

Pantone has announced that 2013's Color of the Year will be Emerald Green, if you couldn't tell from the title of the post.

"Lively. Radiant. Lush... A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance, and harmony."

And that, folks, was just an excerpt from the website. I'm rather glad that next year emerald will be the color, as opposed to tangerine that was all the rage this year. It's a lot easier for me to work with, and it's perfect for the upcoming holidays!

If you haven't noticed, 2013 is just around the corner, so get on the train!

Do we need inspiration? I think yes.

OPI My Very First Knockwurst: Swatch and Review

Hello lovelies, how are you? I'm doing fine, thanks for wondering if you did. It's FRIDAY! TGIF! I'm actually a loser so I'm just going to be making posters for my Relay for Life team* and watching movies with the fam tonight instead of that thing regular teenagers do.. what is it? Par-taying? Sounds boring. ;)

I was excited when I found this nail polish, because I really liked the nudes in this collection. The OPI Germany collection (here) has a wide variety of darks and lights, but I always love the names of the polishes! Some of them are actually really creative, like Don't Talk Bach to Me. That one always cracks me up because I'm kind of an orcha-dork.

P.S. I apologize for the green stains on my fingers, I just finished painting and the paint refused to come off of  my fingers.

Read on for the review and more swatches!

31 Day Nail Challenge Day 4: Green

Hello, lovelies. Today's nail challenge is GREEN. Nail challenge here. Personally, I think today's design was a little holiday-ish. But I really adore the hunter green that adorns my nails. Take a look for yourself~

New Blog Title... What??

Yes, it's true. I have a new blog title. And URL. And it's pretty great. I'm sorry for all of you faithful readers that have read my blog, but I'm thinking of making my blog a little more fancy-schmancy, if you know what I mean. I'm sorry it was kind of a last minute thing, but I think it's for the better. ;)

Pinterest Picks of the Month: Chianti EVERYTHING.

Fall is officially here, and so I wanted to celebrate with a few Pinterest picks! (: Last time, my other PPotM was actually pretty popular, so we'll see how this series spins out.

The theme of this month is chianti, oxblood, burgundy, whatever you want to call it! That was the IT color of the season, and I wanted to showcase its loveliness. It's really a gorgeous color you can pair with black or brown. Or really any other color actually. Anyway, keep on reading through my rambles!

The above picture is one of my favorites that I've managed to find on Pinterest. Oxblood is so versatile, and it can be used casually or at a formal event. Either way, it looks gorgeous.

31 Day Nail Challenge Day 3: Yellow

Hello, lovlies! Don't my nails inspire sunshine into your lives? If not... They make my happy, okay? Just.. deal.

For today's challenge, I did a kind of gradient/glitter/flowery look. I just wanted to do something happy with yellow. (: Because yellow always kind of reminds me of pee. -_-

For the full challenge, look no further than here. It's fun stuff, you should keep following my progress if you're interested.

Anyway, keep reading for more pictures and info, if you want no more, click away on the rest of my blog. ;)

31 Day Nail Challenge Day 2: Orange

Hello, lovelies. It's an icky day in Washington State today. I wish we had summer sun still. But that's kinda a huge feat for the clouds that hang over WA.

Anyhoo, I've finally got up to painting my nails! And let me warn you, they aren't a pure shade of orange and that is for a few reasons:
1. I didn't really have many oranges to choose from, I mean come on!
2. Girrl, would you put pure orange/pumpkin barf on your nails? I don't think so.

So I kinda stretched the rules a bit and went with a dominantly orangey-coral. And a few more pops of orange. Oh, and if you have no flippin' IDEA what I'm talking about, then mozey on over here! Then life shall be simpler. For more pictures read on!

Yeah, I got impatient with the scotch tape..
I didn't actually particularly like this day, just because orange is a hard color to work with. I'm really excited for Day 3, which is orange! (:

Thanks for reading, read some more while you're here, alrighty?

Exfoliation: Is It Essential?

(image)

Let's be honest, how many ladies really exfoliate either their faces, bodies, or both? I for one, didn't learn what exfoliation meant until about last year. But ever since, I think my skin has looked clearer and better. So what is this big word, exfoliation? Read on to find out more.

At the 2012 Emmy's: Orange and Yellow.

Leslie Mann in Naeem Khan
Haha, that's funny. Because my next post soon will be about orange, too.

Anyhoo! I was watching the Emmy's last night, and I saw so many gorgeous draping and tight dresses alike. But one thing I saw so frequently was the orange dresses. Every shade of orange, but just so much!! My eyes were blinded. I think the stylists are trying to say, Dahling, citrus is the new black.

I don't know about you, but I'm hesitant about hopping on the Citrus train.

31 Day Nail Challenge Day 1: Red

Hello, all~ It's such a gorgeous day today. The leaves are turning brown and orange and redddd..... RED. That's what today's theme is! If you have totally no idea of what I'm talking about, read about it here. Basically, I'm doing a challenge where I paint my nails with 31 consecutively different nail art. Fall 2012 Nail Trends You MUST Try

Once the leaves start turning colors, the nails do too. Out go the neons, in go the dark and neutrals. This year, rich burgundy was seen everywhere, whatever you like to call it. Chianti, oxblood, wine, they're all one and the same, the hit color of F/W 12/13. This year, we're evolving into a variety of jewel tones, soft metallics, and bold nail designs.

The 31 Day Nail Challenge that is! I'm going to take up this tedious exciting challenge with open arms! YEAH! Wait. I still have school. Maybe I'll take it slow? Yep, I think I'll spread it out opposed to 31 consecutive nails in a row because 1. I need to let my nails breathe. 2. Between homework and social-ness, I don't have enough time. Read on for more...

Hair-spiration Thursday: Braids Falling on Forehead Lane

I'm so creative with titles aren't I? At least it grabbed some of you in, right? ;) Anyway, to set off this Thursday, we go to the timeless hairstyle, the braid. Braids are so gorgeous, they can be sleek or messy, precise or half undone, and casual to formal. They can go with any look. Which is why I decided I needed to learn how to do an edgier look that isn't just floating and dreaming, yet simple. I needed some inspiration first, though. Want to see what I dug up? 5 Reasons Why You Should Love Drugstore Makeup

Lovlies! Hello! Are you having a good summer? I sure hope you are. Even if it isn't summer when you read this, I hope your day is going wonderful, and if it isn't, I'm really sorry, I wish I could help.

Today I'll be talking about the 5 reasons why drugstore makeup is so FREAKING awesome! Sure, it can be bad quality sometimes, but come on. You got what you paid for. And sometimes there can be those small gems that just light up your world. -cue magical rainbow-

Reasons:

1. It's so dang cheap, who cares if it doesn't work! Dang, you can get eyeliner for $1, does it matter if it was scratchy and unpigmented and horrible and...

2. When you find that Holy Grail product for $5, doesn't it just make you so warm and tingly inside? It makes all drugstore makeup just WORTH it.

3. You can get it while you shop for your bread and vegetables (Eat them. They're very good for you.).

4. Most drugstore makeup products are made by the same manufacturers and factories as high-end brands. Proof: I have a friend who works in the cosmetic industry.

5. If you don't like the product, then you can usually return it to the store, unlike most department store cosmetic counters.

So, if you're opting to get a lot of makeup for not as much money, say you're just starting out as a teenager or are on an emergency run to the store, drugstore makeup isn't all as bad as it looks. Even for those people cough snobs cough who think they're too good for it. ;)

Thank you for reading, I appreciate everyone of you guys!

Mai

How to Wear the Slowly Popping in Trend, Crop Tops (Dressing For Less)

Hello, readers! Today I'm going to get straight to the point and talk about crop tops. Most everyone can pull these off with the right tips and tricks. Really. You don't need J-Lo's abs, it's okay if you have an actual stomach like real people. Just follow these tips and strut your stuff!

Rule #1: Pick the Right Length

This is simple, if you want to be daring, show your belly button. But be warned, this can make you look trashy if not styled right. If you have a crop top higher than your belly button, try to make your bottoms more conservative, maybe a high-waisted pair of trousers. If you're just more conservative in general, and it's fine if you are, then you should wear one that skims over the line between your bellybutton and the waistline of your jeans. The length of the crop top decides how your look is going to speak to the viewers, so be careful.

The Must-Have Summer Staple: Maxi Dresses (Dressing for Less)

Bonjour, dear readers, today I will be addressing maxi dresses. What is a maxi dress? According to Wikipedia (yes, they have invalid sources, but they can be right half the time!) a maxi dress is:

A floor or ankle length informal dress. Maxi dresses are formfitting at the top and loose flowing at the bottom, cut to flow over the body. They are usually made out of cotton or polyester and come in a variety of necklines, colors and patterns.

They are so gorgeous! They are mainly used to create a boho look, but can definitely create a different vibe if used right. See how after the jump.

Met Ball 2012 Trend Alert: Burgundy lips

Hello world! Yesterday, I was scanning pictures of the Met Ball online, and I was peeing my pants the entire time. Everyone looked so pretty!!! -cue gushing and sparkly eyes- In case you didn't know what the Met Ball is, it is the Costume Institute Ball used to celebrate the annual opening of the Metropolitan (Met) Muesum's fashion exhibit. It's a red carpet event, and the top celebrities attend. It is one of the biggest social events in New York City, and a big night for fashion. Many trends have been made right here, and this might be a big one.

At the Met Ball 2012, there was a range of colors, from the basic nude lip to the dark, vampy lip. But the dark, vampy lip stood out for me, because it's not a lip color that is usually worn very often. Some celebrites are shown here:

Kate Bosworth with a cute, teeny bun
Lana Del Ray with a deep part

Spring/Summer 2012 Trends for Less: Neons and Brights

Hello, readers! Today I will be sharing some Spring/Summer trends that you can get for less than runway prices. A major S/S 2012 trend is NEON NEON NEON. Hopefully we won't get all the way overboard and back to the 80s, but I think I can find a way to incorporate it into your wardrobe.

How to Get the Perfect Summer Skin

Hello, readers! Here in Washington, this last week has just been a burst of sunshine, temperatures in the low 80s and upper 70s, which meant skirts and shorts breaking out everywhere. And hey, here in Washington, our normal temperature is in the mid 50s. It was a good week for us all. Anyways, it reminded me of summer, where our average temperature (if we're lucky) is high 60s-low 70s.

The legs are exposed, and you see the pale shoulders and midriff peek out. But, do you really want pasty skin showing? Dull and pale does not remind me of summer, it reminds be of the dead winter. So, I'm going to show you how to achieve the beautiful healthy, glowing skin you've always wanted without going to the tanning salon. Who goes to those things? They are so bad for you.

ANYWAY before you break out your fluffy brushes and favorite bronzer, I want you to consider my words of advice.

Tip of the Day: 5/10/12

Harro, readers! Posts are coming up soon, I'm sorry, testing is here, and it's making me break out in stress. Ewww. -_- No sleep + lots of homework = Stress and breakouts.
White teeth

Anyway, today's tip of the day is about our pearly whites. When drinking either coffee, tea, Coca Cola, or any other staining drink, try to drink it through a straw to prevent staining and discoloration of your teeth. Keep those smiles pretty and white! :D Oh, and always go for water as often as possible, it flushes out your system and is pretty neutral in content.

Thank you for reading, and I'll see you next time!

Tip of the Day: 5/6/12

Hey y'all (I've always wanted to do that), I'm going to start posting Tip of the Days, and they won't be very consistent. These are those extra posts on when I actually have extra time, or when I'm really limited on time and need to squeeze a post out. :)

Today's Tip of the Day will be on mascara, one of my favorite things in the universe. Yes I'm a mascara junkie, and yes I'm so totally proud of it. Not a lot of people know about this trick, and I was looking at Michelle Phan's blog, and I thought, huh, I should post about this too. I'm crediting Michelle for this, but I learned this when I was 11 when I was backstage at my friend's dance recital. You can see Michelle's post on this here.

So you know all of those cards stuffed in your wallet or purse? Those pesky business cards that you recieve from an endless amount of people, those useless wastes of paper. But now, there's a better use for them. Introducing, the buisness card mascara trick! Read it after the jump!

Lip Smackin' Sunday 1: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Coral Reef

Today's Lip Smackin' Sunday is going to be at the beach! A windy, cold, possibly clear skied, Washington beach. I'm razor clamming on this fine Washington day, and it's sweat-inducing. I had to wake up at 5:30 in the A-freaking-M, so makeup was grab, grab, go. Usually, I dress myself down on weekends, and when I go out to razor clam, I don't even try. I seriously look like a sleep-deprived monster that married a rat and had the offspring of me. That's me. ;) Rat's nest hair and all. But today I'll try a little, just for you readers.

Spring 2012 Beauty Trend: Red Lips

Hello readers! Today's post will be about the ever in style red lippies. I'm sorry I haven't posted in such a long time!! I'll try to make it up with more posts today, I promise. I've been really busy, unfortunately. Homework can really suck.

Anyway, red lips are no surprise. It was seen all over runways, from bright corals to deep burgundies glossed on model's lips. Red lips are being taken to new heights, every shade of the red spectrum have been seen everywhere. They have been pulled back from the vintage pinup era, and put into the 21st century. This Spring/Summer 2012 (S/S 2012) has been filled with the message: Combine vintage and modern styles to create your own and unique style. Shine and let people know you are here.

At least that's what I think. ;) Read more after the jump!

COLOR-BLOCKING

Well, spring's here, and summer is up coming, and I wanted to fill you guys in on the clothing I've seen on runways, the red carpet, and streets alike. To see more, look at my Pinterest board under Spring/Summer 2012.

So, apparently fashion is taking a book out of the '60s and '80s and popping it onto the 2012s.... wait, what? Would it be called the '12s? Or the '10s? Or... ANYWAY. Color-blocking is here! I'm happy, because the drab colors and frilly designs (shivers) of Autumn 2011 are gone, and bright color blockin is here!

Obviously, color blocking is a big trend right now. VERY big. People are wearing it head to toe, sometimes coordinating their outfits, or just little things, like shoes, purses, or a top. But it's the latest craze that you can see almost everywhere. Here are some examples:

Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer Review

Yes, I am a junior high student, so I get as much sleep as many high school students. On usual days, it's about 5-6 hours, and on weekends, I sleep in for 8-9 hours, the usual amount of sleep I should be getting. What does this have to do with today's review? Well... It's all about under eye concealer today folks.

Oily lids? Here's How to Get Rid of Them

Hello readers! Today I'm going to address the problem of oily lids and creasing eyeshadow. Yucky stuff, I know. I am a victim of oily lids, and I've always despised how my eyeshadow looked creased and how my eyeliner, no matter what brand, spread into raccoon eyes. Raccoon eyes= a no-no. So, I have found a solution for all of those that suffer from oilylid-itis.

Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Mascara Review

So, my first makeup review of the blog, the world, here we go then. This mascara is an interesting one.

Pros:
  •  It volumizes a lottttt
  • It makes your lashes look fuller because it has such a big wand
  • It has a big wand. <3
  • It gives the illusion of bigger lashes, not long ones.
Cons:

  • If you don't apply it right, it can make your eyelashes look spidery and clumpy.
  • I got it, and it kind of smelled. It's most likely the smell of the collagen in it, but I tossed it after 2 weeks.
  • If you get the non waterproof kind, it's REALLY non waterproof. It will run like heck.
  • I've heard that it flakes on some people. It didn't happen to me, but it might to you. O_O
The formula is a wee bit runny, so apply a lot if you end up buying this product. For me, the cons outweighed the pros. A lot of people like this, but it's not for me. It's not the worse I've come by, but it's an iffy one. It definitely volumizes a lot. Yes indeed, that it does. It easily can create a dramatic look without false lashes, and with, but I prefer Maybelline Falsies over this one. But that is a story for another time folks. It's time to go beddybye. Have a good one, internet readers.
