How to Wear the Slowly Popping in Trend, Crop Tops (Dressing For Less)

Hello, readers! Today I'm going to get straight to the point and talk about crop tops. Most everyone can pull these off with the right tips and tricks. Really. You don't need J-Lo's abs, it's okay if you have an actual stomach like real people. Just follow these tips and strut your stuff!

Rule #1: Pick the Right Length

This is simple, if you want to be daring, show your belly button. But be warned, this can make you look trashy if not styled right. If you have a crop top higher than your belly button, try to make your bottoms more conservative, maybe a high-waisted pair of trousers. If you're just more conservative in general, and it's fine if you are, then you should wear one that skims over the line between your bellybutton and the waistline of your jeans. The length of the crop top decides how your look is going to speak to the viewers, so be careful.

Rule #2: Don't be Afraid to Layer

Crop tops can be small and revealing, yes, but they can also give off a classy vibe if you wear it right. When I think of layering, I think of winter and puffy parkas. But no, it doesn't have to be that way. Just add a light cami underneath a crop top, or add a tank top, and you can still get the look of a crop top. And it it's going to be worn at night, wear a jacket over it, or a loose cardigan.

Rule #3: Pick the Right Fit

There are generally two types of crop tops. The bustier-like one, and the loose and flowy one. As shown:

The bustier-like crop tops are tighter, and can be used in a more sophisticated note. If you wear a loose and flowy one, it can be interpreted as a boho and more casual look. Know what you want, and the crop top you're wearing won't look sloppy.

Rule #4: Be Confident

Nobody can wear crop tops if they aren't standing up straight and feeling confident about their bodies. If you look confident, you can really pull anything off. Think about it. If you're slouching in on yourself, looking gloomy and just not confident, you won't look so hot. But if your head is up, and your spine straight, you'll be radiating confidence and looking amazing.

Here's a little shopping box I've put together made of my favorite crop tops under $50. There's a few basics and a few staples I've thrown in, so check it out!

Thanks for listening, stay gorgeous!

Your rambling beauty addict,

Mai
