Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon: Review and Swatches

Hello readers!

Here's the deal. I bought this lip butter (and a few other colors) a week or two ago, but I've been testing them day to day. I was hesitant to jump on the we-all-love-lip-butters train, but after I tested them for a day or two, I was in the front, tooting the horn.

I naturally had to reach for this color because of well, the name, and because I love anything watermelon. Anything! Actually, I really only prefer really firm and juicy watermelon, not the really watery, flavorless kind. And I always prefer artificial watermelon flavor over any other flavor. Is that bad? Nahh, it's artificial watermelon, what could go wrong?

Claims? Buttery balm with beautiful shiny color to give you baby soft, healthy glowing lips. Each delicious shade contains hydrating properties that decrease the need for constant reapplication -- giving more time to flaunt vibrant lip color. In a study conducted by Revlon, 94%** of women saw a difference in their moisturization! (taken right from the website itself)

Color? I think this is just a really pretty color, a pink-based red. There are 23 (I believe?) other colors in the line, three that are limited edition (see availability).

Packaging/Design? The packaging is very sleek, the color-coordinated plastic is really rather cute, and the bullet is straight across with a slight angle as you can see in the pictures. It may be harder for some to navigate for some people with smaller lips, but for me I only had precision problems near the corners.

Scent? Yummy vanilla scent, almost candy-like. It wears off after application, but it's not too strong that it's cloying.

Ingredients? POLYBUTENE, BIS-DIGLYCERYL, POLYACYLADIPATE-2, TRIDECYL, IRIMELLITATE, OCTYLDODECANOL, PETROLATUM, HYDROGENATED POLYDECENE, NEOPENTYL GLYCOL DIETHYLHEXANOATE, SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS (JOJOBA) SEED OIL, POLYETHYLENE, OZOKERITE, CETYL PEG.PPG-10/1 DIMETHICONE, CALCIUM SODIUM BOROSILICATE, CALCIUM ALUMINUM BOROSILICATE, HEXYL LAURATE, POLYGLYCERYL -4 ISOSTEARATE, CERA ALBA (BEESWAX) CIRE D'ABEILLE, ZINC RICINOLEATE, SQUALANE, SILICA, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA BUTTER), MANGIFERA INDICA (MANGO) SEED BUTTER, PALMITOYL OLIGOPEPTIDE, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, COCOS NUCIFERA (COCONUT) OIL, SYNTHETC WAX, ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, TRIBEHENIN, SORBITAN ISOSTEARATE, PARFUM (FRANGRANCE) BHT, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL MAY CONTAIN [+/-: MICA, TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), IRON OXIDES (CI 77499, 77492, 77499), YELLOW 5 LAKE (CI 19140), RED 7 LAKE (CI 15850:1), YELLOW 6 LAKE (CI 15985), RED 33 LAKE (CI 17200), CARMINE (CI 75470), BLUE 1 LAKE (CI 42090) RED 6 LAKE (CI 15850)] 22772

Pros?

-Glides on smoothly
-Give a glossy finish to the lips
-Buildable
-Moisturizing
-Leaves an even stain (could be a pro or con actually)

Cons?

-Can accentuate dry flakes on the lips
-Lasting power is 2-3 hours with drinking
-Could be very prone to melting in purses

Cost? I purchased this for $7.49 at Ulta, it's available anywhere where Revlon is sold (i.e. drugstores and Ulta).

Overall Rating Out of 10? 9/10

Avaliability? Limited Edition part of Revlon's Gucci Westman Spring 2013 collection, but I've seen it getting incorporated into the permanent collection.

Repurchase? Absolutely!

Other Comments?  This feels like it has a different formula compared to the original Lip Butters, like it more of a stick compared to the extreme buttery and almost liquidy.

Just an fyi, the up close and personal lip swatch is on high-def macro, so it's really detailed. Most of the details of my lips you see there, you wouldn't see in real life.

Lots of love,
